Getting Started
How do I start the app?
Presentify is a macOS menu bar only app. This means it does not have a window like other conventional applications. To start, you can click on the Presentify icon from Launchpad or type Presentify on spotlight and hit enter. Once you do this, a tiny Presentify icon should appear on the menu bar. You can click on it and then start annotating any screen or highlighting your cursor. You could also toggle these features via keyboard shortcuts.
How do I contact support?
You can click on the support link found at the bottom of this page. However, keep in mind that sometimes it can take a few hours to get a response.
Additionally, you can ask on Twitter, and follow @presentifyapp to stay abreast of the latest updates.
Is there a trial version?
Presentify doesn't offer a trial version on Apple Store but you can definitely try it out on Setapp for free. They give a 7-day free trial to try out all the apps on their store and not just Presentify.
If for some reason, you only prefer Apple Store then you could easily request a full refund from Apple.com by following the instructions here if you're not satisfied with the app.
Can I purchase the app outside the App Store?
Yes, you can purchase the
app directly via Stripe. After the payment is successful, you
will get a .dmg file that you can install on your macOS.
How can I disable the pop-up message shown at the start?
The latest version of Presentify only shows this the first time a user uses the app. And, again once when the user restores everything to the default settings. Therefore, it's encouraged to update the app to the latest version.
If you have an older version of the app, go
to Preferences > General and uncheck the "Show tooltip when
app starts" checkbox.
Annotate Screen
How do I draw a straight line?
When in Annotate Screen mode, select Free Hand, the first option after the colors
on the Annotate Controls panel, and then while drawing press and hold the Shift
Key (⇧) to get a straight line.
Where do I find all the key shortcuts for annotating?
When in Annotate Screen mode, press the Question (?) or the Slash
(/) key to see all the keyboard shortcuts for annotating. Press the
same key to hide the shortcuts window.
How do I fill color in rectangles and circles?
While drawing a rectangle or circle, press and hold the Option Key
(⌥) to fill the
shape with a light semi-transparent color. The color would be the same as the
draw color but would be partially transparent.
Can I draw on my iPad?
Yes, you can draw on your iPad when you pair up your iPad with your Macbook via Apple's Sidecar, Astropad, Duet, or other similar software.
Is there a whiteboard? If yes, how do I turn it on?
Yes, there is a whiteboard in Presentify. You can turn it on by pressing
W when in Annotate mode. Additionally, you can press the Question
(?) or the Slash (/) key to view all Annotate related
key shortcuts.
Can I draw with gradients instead of plain colors?
Yes, this feature was added in version 3.1. Simply click on Random icon ( 🔀)
in the Annotate Controls panel or press (4) and start drawing.
How do I save my annotations?
For now, you can take a screenshot of your annotations by pressing
`Command + Shift + 3` (⌘⇧3) to capture the entire screen or
`Command + Shift + 4` (⌘⇧4) to capture a portion of the
screen.
In a later release, `save annotations` feature would be added such that you can load the saved annotations and amend it as and when you need. There would also be a button to take a screenshot easily without the need to use any key shortcuts.
Does it work with Zoom, Hangouts, and Screen Recording apps like OBS, etc.?
Yes, of course. But do make sure that you share your entire screen and not just one window. If you do not want to share the entire screen then Zoom has a feature where you can only share a portion of the screen. Either of these options would work perfectly.
Or, if you have more than one monitor, you can share the entire screen on one monitor and keep the private content on the other monitor.
If you're using OBS then please select Display Capture as one of your Input Sources.
Does Presentify work with Keynote in full-screen mode?
Yes, it does.
Keynote uses Presentation mode and not just Full Screen mode. This mode does not allow other apps to have control over the display, and therefore, many annotation tools don't work with Keynote. However, Presentify works with Keynote in full-screen mode as it handles this use-case differently. Just make sure you have below the Preferences set up in Keynote:
How do I change the font size of the Text?
After you write something, just use your mouse scroll (keeping your mouse pointer on top of the text) to increase/decrease the text size.
Touch Bar support will be added soon. This will help you to easily change the font size on your iPad too.
How do I exit the Text mode with my keyboard?
Simply press the Esc key to come out of Text mode and into the Free
hand mode.
My annotation has gone semi-transparent. How do I revert it back to opaque colors?
This happens when the 'Highlight Mode' is turned on. You can turn it off by
pressing the H key when in annotation mode.
Additionally, when in annotation mode, you can press the Question
(?) or the Slash (/) key to see all the keyboard
shortcuts for annotating.
How do I interact with the underlying apps when annotating?
Sometimes you may want to quickly advance the slide you're presenting or scroll
the webpage, etc. when Presentify is turned on. In such cases, you can simply
press and hold the Fn key to interact with the underlying
apps (and not Presentify). You can watch this

What is Interactive Mode?
When you start Annotate with this mode enabled, Presentify runs on the
background and gets activated only when you press and hold the
Fn key. This is useful when you need a distraction free
experience and your main priority is the other application that
you're working on. You can watch this

Highlight Cursor
Can I change my cursor highlight style?
Definitely. You can change the highlight ring's color, opacity, border, and size.
You can even make it a full circle instead of a ring. See Preferences >

Can I have a full circle instead of a ring?
Yes, sure. You can enable it in Preferences > Cursor.
Is there a click animation?
Yes, there is. And, it is enabled by default.

What do the symbols beside the menu mean?
The symbols resemble the keyboard shortcuts for the specific operation. The basic keys and their symbols are shown below:

How do I request a full refund?

Do I have to buy multiple licenses for each Apple device that I own?
No, the purchase is linked to your Apple Id and not to a device. Ergo, as long as you log in with the same Apple Id, you can download the Presentify app from the App Store and use it for free.
